Weather Update & Player Options
**SUNDAY 2/1:**
Due to the winter storm that passed through this weekend, we are unfortunately having to cancel the Brittain Resorts Classic in its entirety. We held out hope that the conditions would allow us the chance to get one or two rounds this week. Due to the varying snow levels across the Grand Strand and the forecasted below freezing temperatures over the next two evenings, our host facilities are planning on remaining closed for most of the week ahead.
Updates for those who filled out our player option form:
- Those who selected Option 1: Standard Cancellation, we will begin processing those cancellations tomorrow and they usually take 2-4 business days to process. Refunds will credited on the card you paid with when you registered.
- Those who selected Option 2: Raincheck package, we will begin getting those processing those and shipping the packages out later in the week.
- For those of you who chose neither in hopes that we could still play, you will receive the raincheck package for the three rounds of golf as well as your gift bag, in the same time frame as the Option 2 players.
On behalf of our entire events division, we want to apologize to our players for the inconveniences this may have caused. We want to thank you for your patience and understanding with these unusual winter conditions and we hope that we will see you back down at the Golf Capital of the World when conditions improve.
THURSDAY 1/29:
Unfortunately, inclement weather—including the potential for snow and sustained below-freezing temperatures—is forecasted to impact the area throughout the weekend and into early next week. A majority of golf courses in the area have been closed this week and are expected to remain closed through the weekend.
As a result of the forecasted weather:
Sunday (Feb. 1): Check-in/registration has been cancelled
Monday – Round 1 (Feb.2): has been cancelled due to host courses closing their facilities
Tuesday – Round 2 (Feb. 3) is likely to be cancelled due to continued below freezing temperatures following the weekend, impacting courses ability to re-open
At this time, if golf courses are able to reopen, our plan will be to host the scheduled round of golf on Wednesday, pending weather conditions.* This plan is entirely dependent on the ability of our Wednesday host courses to safely open. Currently, we are uncertain of whether the courses can do so or not and are remaining in communication each day regarding this.
We fully understand that this is not the event experience you signed up for, and we sincerely share in your frustration. This is a highly unusual weather event for our area, and while it is outside of our control, we are committed to doing everything we can to be fair, flexible, and supportive of our players.
Player Withdrawal Options
To provide flexibility, we are extending our cancellation deadline to 2:00 PM on Saturday, 1/31. Players who wish to withdraw may choose one of the following options:
Option 1 – Standard Cancellation (Current Policy)
Receive a refund of entry fee minus a $120 cancellation fee per player
Option 2 – Raincheck Package (No Refund)
Receive three rain checks for the rounds of golf originally scheduled
Receive the full tournament gift bag, including:
A Brittain Resorts Classic branded quarter-zip
A $50 gift card to Sea Captain’s House Restaurant
All items will be mailed to participants after Feb. 4th
*In the instance that we are unable to play on Wednesday, all players who did not select a withdrawal option will automatically receive the Raincheck Package. If we are able to do so, players who still opt to participate will receive rain checks for the first two rounds that were missed as well as the tournament gift bag.
We truly appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support. We will continue to monitor conditions closely and will provide additional updates regarding golf on Tuesday & Wednesday as soon as more information becomes available.
